Effects of Episodic Food Insecurity on Psychological and Physiological Responses in African American Women With Obesity (RESPONSES): Protocol for a Longitudinal Observational Cohort Study

Physiological parameters are measured via 24-hour urine (cortisol) and blood (dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate [DHEA-S], C-reactive protein [CRP], thyroid hormones, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and insulin) samples as well as an allostatic load total score. These parameters are measured at week 0 and week 22 to examine changes in psychological and physiological mechanisms.
