As noted by Bentley et al [20], patients receiving the telehealth intervention were more than twice as likely to be admitted to hospital and for six times longer than the control group. This would seem to suggest, as in other studies [17,31,32], that telehealth monitoring fails to achieve the objective of keeping patients out of hospital or reduce health service usage.
