Sedentary bout goals were also negotiated, with 1 h being the number suggested and typically agreed to by participants. These goals were entered into the app so that progress bars would measure progress toward the specific goals. Idle alerts used the sedentary bout goals to determine when to vibrate to alert participants that they had been sedentary too long.
