Enhancing Bidirectional Encoder Representations From Transformers (BERT) With Frame Semantics to Extract Clinically Relevant Information From German Mammography Reports: Algorithm Development and Validation

Enhancing Bidirectional Encoder Representations From Transformers (BERT) With Frame Semantics to Extract Clinically Relevant Information From German Mammography Reports: Algorithm Development and Validation

However, challenges remain in handling edge cases, such as semantically overlapping frame definitions and negation detection. The real-world applicability of this approach is still limited by the need for specialized, high-quality annotated data, though model distillation strategies could help mitigating this constraint. In future work, we will validate the results and test the application of the approach to reports from other radiology departments.

However, data systems can also distribute the storage and processing of data across different nodes or locations such as servers and edge devices. Servers act as the central processing units in data architecture, supporting computing workloads in data extraction, storage, and transformation of data. Edge devices mainly provide support for data extraction and preprocessing, generally located near the source of the data.
