We calculated the Krippendorff c-α, a measure of separating relevant and irrelevant content whereby coders code texts of similar locations and lengths, and the Krippendorff cu-α, a measure of semantic domain reliability whereby coders code a given text for the presence or absence of a semantic domain [48]. Discrepancies were resolved through discussions between MW, LT, and SEL. Qualitative results were not returned to participants for feedback.

Relevant clinician-administered measures included the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale Modified for BDD (BDD-YBOCS; [26]), Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI 7.02; [27]), and the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS [28]; refer to [12] for additional measures administered). The BDD-YBOCS is the gold-standard measure of BDD symptom severity and was used to characterize the sample and track symptom severity.
