Digital Health Platform for Maternal Health: Design, Recruitment Strategies, and Lessons Learned From the PowerMom Observational Cohort Study

The Power Mom (Scripps Research) platform was designed to capitalize on these opportunities by implementing a bilingual (English and Spanish) digital research platform that facilitates remote, convenient participation. Power Mom’s recruitment strategy was explicitly designed to harness the power of digital platforms to allow seamless, rolling self-enrollment and ensure wide-scale and inclusive participation across diverse communities.

Exclusion criteria included cognitive, physical, or sensory deficits; being a non-English speaker; psychiatric hospitalizations or mental illness diagnoses in the past 2 years; use of antipsychotic or anticonvulsant medications; or plans to place the relative with ADRD in a nursing home within 6 months. The target sample size was adjusted from 64 to 32 due to challenges in recruiting family caregivers with depression within the funding period.

Utilization and Experiences of Using Quit Now, a Nicotine and Tobacco Smoking Cessation Website: Thematic Analysis

For this study, we examined data only from participants who reported using Quit Now to support their cessation (vs participants who had not used Quit Now) and included participants who had recently quit or were motivated to quit, either smoked, vaped, or both, were aged 16 years or older, lived in British Columbia, and could communicate in English. The recruitment procedures and inclusion and exclusion criteria are described in a previous study [16].
