A significant P value (
The study was preregistered (ISRCTN ID: 52546704) and obtained ethical approval before recruitment (IRAS ID: 327897, NHS Research Ethics Committee: West of Scotland REC 4). In line with the Declaration of Helsinki, all prospective participants provided signed informed consent and were debriefed following the study. This study was conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles.
