Infoveillance of COVID-19 Infections in Dentistry Using Platform X: Descriptive Study

Infoveillance of COVID-19 Infections in Dentistry Using Platform X: Descriptive Study

Due to aerosol generation at the dental chair by air-turbine handpieces, as well as the proximity to patients during dental procedures, dentistry was thought to be associated with the spread of infection. On the other hand, the identification of SARS-Co V-2 in the saliva of infected patients, and the possible transmission of COVID-19 through asymptomatic carriers, posed a threat to the dental profession [1-3].

Digital Dentists: A Curriculum for the 21st Century

Digital Dentists: A Curriculum for the 21st Century

Third, although a multitude of digital health competency frameworks exist [8-11], there is a notable absence of shared curriculum models specific to dentistry. Therefore, dentistry educators are not aware of or struggle to adopt best practices in the teaching of digital health. In this viewpoint, we argue that there is a need to integrate digital health education into dentistry curricula to prepare future practitioners for the increasingly digitized health care environment.

AI in Dental Radiology—Improving the Efficiency of Reporting With ChatGPT: Comparative Study

AI in Dental Radiology—Improving the Efficiency of Reporting With ChatGPT: Comparative Study

Dental radiology, integral to dentistry, relies on the correct interpretation of x-ray images, including panoramic radiographs (OPG), to diagnose and plan numerous oral conditions or pathologies. To maintain the standard of patient care, it is, therefore, crucial to ensure high-quality training in radiology tasks during dental studies.

Distal and Proximal Influences on Self-Reported Oral Pain and Self-Rated Oral Health Status in Saudi Arabia: Retrospective Study Using a 2017 Nationwide Database

Distal and Proximal Influences on Self-Reported Oral Pain and Self-Rated Oral Health Status in Saudi Arabia: Retrospective Study Using a 2017 Nationwide Database

Data analysis was conducted at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, the Department of Biostatistics at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, Indianapolis. The Human Research Protection Program from the Office of Research Compliance at Indiana University determined that this secondary analysis does not require further IRB review (Protocol #: 1808825963).

Teledentistry Applied to Health and Education Outcomes: Evidence Gap Map

Teledentistry Applied to Health and Education Outcomes: Evidence Gap Map

Considering the importance of dentistry at both individual and population levels, it is logical and advisable that teledentistry is incorporated into health care and, consequently, into teaching [2,9,10]. With the expansion of care integrated into the teaching-service axis, teledentistry favors the dynamics of dental care systems and training, allowing new educational opportunities [10,11].

Development of an Interprofessional Education Project in Dentistry Based on the Positive Behavior Support Theory: Pilot Curriculum Development and Validation Study

Development of an Interprofessional Education Project in Dentistry Based on the Positive Behavior Support Theory: Pilot Curriculum Development and Validation Study

Basic educational theory, curriculum content selection, teaching and learning approaches, and entry timing of interprofessional education (IPE) in dentistry and dental technology are key focus areas in this research field [10,11]. Positive behavior support (PBS) is an established method of providing positive feedback to difficult or challenging groups of trainees.

Portuguese Version of the Oral Frailty Index-8: Instrument Validation Study

Portuguese Version of the Oral Frailty Index-8: Instrument Validation Study

For this reason, oral frailty is currently considered one of the main determinants of oral health and dentistry policies [9]. Maintaining good oral function can then be one of the keys to increasing longevity, but the evidence is limited and has not been studied in detail [8]. Thus, additional high-quality studies are needed, and it is extremely important to increase awareness of oral frailty and provide appropriate literature related to this concept to promote healthy aging in the future [5,10].

A Comparison of Conventional Root Canal Sealers With Ones That Use Green Synthesized Nanoparticles for Antimicrobial Activity: Protocol for a Systematic Review

A Comparison of Conventional Root Canal Sealers With Ones That Use Green Synthesized Nanoparticles for Antimicrobial Activity: Protocol for a Systematic Review

In dentistry, NPs are considered effective antimicrobial agents and are superior in comparison to other materials, with a low capacity for bacterial resistance [36]. However, the synthesis of NPs is a complex procedure. There are 2 major pathways for NPs synthesis. The first one is a top-down approach, whereby NPs are synthesized by reducing the size of the desired material from its initial bulk state into smaller particles [37].

Analyzing the Influence of Video Game and Music Engagement on Technical Skills Acquisition in Dental Students in Preclinical Phase: Protocol for a Prospective, Controlled, Longitudinal Study

Analyzing the Influence of Video Game and Music Engagement on Technical Skills Acquisition in Dental Students in Preclinical Phase: Protocol for a Prospective, Controlled, Longitudinal Study

Our aim is to investigate the relevance of playing these activities in the context of learning dentistry. Specifically, we aim to determine whether regular video games or musical instrument practice has a positive impact on the baseline preclinical performance of novice dental students. In addition, our study aims to determine whether these “video game players” and “music players” students progress more quickly in their preclinical skills than their “nonplayers” peers.

Promoting Health Literacy in the Workplace Among Civil Servants: Cross-Sectional Study

Promoting Health Literacy in the Workplace Among Civil Servants: Cross-Sectional Study

Other OHL questionnaires containing reading comprehension and numeracy sections could have been used, such as the Comprehensive Oral Health Literacy Scale [56] or the Test of Functional Health Literacy in Dentistry [57]. Third, even if our results seem generalizable to the entire public service, this study only included state agents.
