Therefore, it is possible to hypothesize that GT data should not be seen as a “one-size-fits-all” tool for health research since we do not know the clinical and demographic composition of the individuals searching for a specific health term or topic. As such, it is probable that there may be relevant differences from what is observed in the general population, with relevant implications for the performance and interpretability of GT-based models.

The category “patient data” contains data elements that can be used for searching; all other categories are shown in Table 1. Both systems fulfill the main requirement of (1) generating a list of eligible patients and (2) notifying users. In addition, it is possible to tag participants, make notes, and track the recruitment status. Both investigated systems lacked integration with existing HISs.
