Characterizing Public Sentiments and Drug Interactions in the COVID-19 Pandemic Using Social Media: Natural Language Processing and Network Analysis

Characterizing Public Sentiments and Drug Interactions in the COVID-19 Pandemic Using Social Media: Natural Language Processing and Network Analysis

Table S3 in Multimedia Appendix 1 presents the 67 most frequently mentioned drugs, each with an occurrence exceeding 1000 times. The most frequent taxonomies are ATC [41] N (nervous system drugs) and J (anti-infective drug). We ranked the total occurrence of all drugs and identified the top 5 most-mentioned drugs: ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, remdesivir, zinc, and vitamin D to visualize their weekly time trends. Figure 2 presents these temporal trends.

The enzymatic system of Cytochrome P450 (CYP450) is a group of enzymes involved in the metabolism of drugs present in the liver. CYP450 functions by oxidizing molecules through various chemical reactions. These reactions give rise to active or inactive metabolites, and sometimes among these, to toxic metabolites [1].

Antihypertensive Drug Recommendations for Reducing Arterial Stiffness in Patients With Hypertension: Machine Learning–Based Multicohort (RIGIPREV) Study

Antihypertensive Drug Recommendations for Reducing Arterial Stiffness in Patients With Hypertension: Machine Learning–Based Multicohort (RIGIPREV) Study

The meta-analysis conducted by Ong et al [12] compared the effects of antihypertensive drugs (except ARBs) with those of placebo and revealed that all antihypertensive drugs reduced the PWV. In short-term trials, ACEIs were more effective than calcium channel blockers (CCBs), and in long-term trials, ACEIs, CCBs, BBs, and diuretics were more effective than placebo.

Automated System to Capture Patient Symptoms From Multitype Japanese Clinical Texts: Retrospective Study

We selected taxane drugs, such as paclitaxel and docetaxel for the evaluation, as they frequently cause PN. As shown in Figure 2, patients receiving either type of taxane drugs were included in the analysis, whereas those receiving both paclitaxel and docetaxel were excluded. Patients selected according to these criteria were then analyzed for the development of PN as an outcome. Flowchart describing the procedure for selecting patient data according to criteria.
