Identifying Patient-Reported Outcome Measure Documentation in Veterans Health Administration Chiropractic Clinic Notes: Natural Language Processing Analysis

Identifying Patient-Reported Outcome Measure Documentation in Veterans Health Administration Chiropractic Clinic Notes: Natural Language Processing Analysis

Measurement-based care is a recommended practice in the management of musculoskeletal pain conditions [2], where biomarkers of disease severity are lacking and baseline and serial reassessment for progress may influence clinical decision-making. Using PROMs can improve communication and shared decision-making between patients and clinicians, enable contextualization of pain within a patient’s life, and may positively influence health and pain status [3].

Effect of Clinic-Based and Asynchronous Video-Based Exercise on Clinic and Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis: Quasi-Experimental Study

Effect of Clinic-Based and Asynchronous Video-Based Exercise on Clinic and Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis: Quasi-Experimental Study

Osteoarthritis of the knee is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition affecting older people, often accompanied by pain, physical disability, and reduced quality of life (Qo L), with considerable economic burden on the health care system [10,11]. Research indicates that knee osteoarthritis occurs earlier in life, affecting younger adults more often than in previous years, likely due to increased obesity and joint injury [12].

Kinetic Pattern Recognition in Home-Based Knee Rehabilitation Using Machine Learning Clustering Methods on the Slider Digital Physiotherapy Device: Prospective Observational Study

Kinetic Pattern Recognition in Home-Based Knee Rehabilitation Using Machine Learning Clustering Methods on the Slider Digital Physiotherapy Device: Prospective Observational Study

This is particularly useful in postoperative rehabilitation or in monitoring the progress of participants with musculoskeletal disorders. For a theoretical application in a clinical setting, cluster characterized by limited range and lower force output might indicate participants who are either in the early stages of recovery from injury or surgery or who are experiencing complications or poor recovery.

Cutaneous Atrophy Following Corticosteroid Injections for Tendonitis: Report of Two Cases

Cutaneous Atrophy Following Corticosteroid Injections for Tendonitis: Report of Two Cases

Injectable corticosteroids are commonly used to treat musculoskeletal conditions, including tendonitis [1]. Common adverse reactions to corticosteroid injections include atrophy, depigmentation, and cellulitis [1]. Skin depigmentation is a well-recognized adverse effect of corticosteroid injections, but atrophy is underrecognized. Atrophy typically manifests 2-4 months following the injection but may be delayed up to a year [2].

Comparing In-Person, Standard Telehealth, and Remote Musculoskeletal Examination With a Novel Augmented Reality Exercise Game System: Pilot Cross-Sectional Comparison Study

Comparing In-Person, Standard Telehealth, and Remote Musculoskeletal Examination With a Novel Augmented Reality Exercise Game System: Pilot Cross-Sectional Comparison Study

Examples of telerehabilitation applications include replacing in-person visits for chronic lower back pain evaluation and management [8], providing remote synchronous treatment interventions for musculoskeletal conditions [9], and implementing asynchronous rehabilitation programs following total knee replacement surgery [10]. However, existing telemedicine and telerehabilitation platforms have limitations.

Building and Sustaining Public Trust in Health Data Sharing for Musculoskeletal Research: Semistructured Interview and Focus Group Study

Building and Sustaining Public Trust in Health Data Sharing for Musculoskeletal Research: Semistructured Interview and Focus Group Study

There were 2 main research questions: (1) What are the attitudes and views of patients and carers toward health data sharing for musculoskeletal research and (2) How can we improve transparency and enable dialogue with local communities about health data sharing for musculoskeletal research to build and sustain public trust?

Usage, Attitudes, Facilitators, and Barriers Toward Digital Health Technologies in Musculoskeletal Care: Survey Among Primary Care Physiotherapists in Norway

Usage, Attitudes, Facilitators, and Barriers Toward Digital Health Technologies in Musculoskeletal Care: Survey Among Primary Care Physiotherapists in Norway

The burden of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is high, with an estimated prevalence of 1.7 billion people worldwide [1]. In Norway, 18% of men and 27% of women report chronic MSDs lasting for more than 6 months, and there is an increasing prevalence with age [2]. MSDs account for one-third of all sickness benefits and disability pensions and 9% of all direct health care costs [3]. There is consensus that the majority of these disorders should be treated in primary care [1,4,5].
