As a core goal of the AAL technology ecosystem is to promote independent living and improve the quality of life for vulnerable individuals, the authors not only considered the user’s home but also addressed the individual AAL requirements beyond the home environment, including services and data collected at the community and city levels. Unfortunately, AAL technologies are rarely integrated with external services, especially community health services [11-13].

Health Monitoring Using Smart Home Technologies: Scoping Review
The search terms utilized are presented in Table S1 of Multimedia Appendix 1; they briefly encompassed the following search terms: health, monitor, smart home, ambient assisted living, active assisted living, and AAL. We limited our search to papers published between January 2008 and August 2021. Only peer-reviewed papers published in English were included.

This scoped analysis focused on the following research questions (RQs):
RQ1: What AI models are implemented in AAL systems?
First, we identified, described, and systematized AI classifications and models in the current landscape of AAL systems. For this purpose, we extracted common terminology to describe current AI models and AAL.
RQ2: What are the domains of the models?

Thus, the assessment of ambient assisted living (AAL) benefits should integrate measures related to caregiver efficiency [16].
To advance the field of ATs, we designed a clinical trial assessing AAL-based multiservice assistance, called Home Assist (HA), dedicated to supporting FI in their 3 main needs domains: ADL, safety, and social participation.

Active assisted living (AAL) offers technology that may address some individual and governmental concerns. In Canada, AAL technologies have been explored as a combination of smart-home, telehealth, and assistive technology (AT) [3]. In contrast, Europe has the most advanced programs for AAL standardization, and many of their projects are developed by the AAL Joint National Program [4] to support their growing aging population.
