Text Messaging Versus Postal Reminders to Improve Participation in a Colorectal Cancer Screening Program: Randomized Controlled Trial

Text Messaging Versus Postal Reminders to Improve Participation in a Colorectal Cancer Screening Program: Randomized Controlled Trial

A recent systematic review that analyzed the effectiveness of invitation schemes in fecal occult blood test (FOBT)–based CRC screening found that reminders had a positive impact, increasing participation by 8.5% to 15.8% points depending on the method used [6]. The current European guidelines for CRC screening recommend using reminders through evidence-based communication channels such as letters and telephone reminders to improve cancer screening rates; however, some of these approaches can be costly [4].

Quality Assessment of Smartphone Medication Management Apps in France: Systematic Search

Quality Assessment of Smartphone Medication Management Apps in France: Systematic Search

Several studies have confirmed that the use of a medication management app improves adherence to therapy, notably by sending reminders, even in older patients with no experience of using new technologies [11-14]. However, no study evaluating the quality of medication management apps via a validated score has been published to date. The main objective of this study was to identify medication management apps to improve patient adherence and assess their quality, using a validated scale.

Just-in-Time Prompts for Running, Walking, and Performing Strength Exercises in the Built Environment: 4-Week Randomized Feasibility Study

Just-in-Time Prompts for Running, Walking, and Performing Strength Exercises in the Built Environment: 4-Week Randomized Feasibility Study

The Smart PAUL app differs from the Basic PAUL app in that it can optimize the timing of reminders with a self-learning module [36]. The self-learning algorithm has the opportunity to learn right times (ie, JITAI) to send reminders based on the time of the day, the day of the week, previous PA behavior, and agenda availability [36]. Although the timing differed between the Basic and Smart PAUL apps, the content of the reminders was equal. Both apps were programmed to send up to 14 reminders per week.

Comparing Reminders Sent via SMS Text Messaging and Email for Improving Adherence to an Electronic Health Program: Randomized Controlled Trial

Comparing Reminders Sent via SMS Text Messaging and Email for Improving Adherence to an Electronic Health Program: Randomized Controlled Trial

However, a limitation of this meta-study is that these conclusions were based on comparing the effect sizes in studies with no reminders or email reminders to studies using SMS text messaging reminders. Several direct comparisons of modalities across arms within a randomized trial, and across various contexts, is needed to address this issue.

Voice Assistant Reminders and the Latency of Scheduled Medication Use in Older Adults With Pain: Descriptive Feasibility Study

Voice Assistant Reminders and the Latency of Scheduled Medication Use in Older Adults With Pain: Descriptive Feasibility Study

A supportive strategy for older adults is the use of reminders [14]. Several studies have found that mobile health (m Health) reminders from smartphones, tablets, and text messages encourage adherence behaviors [15,16]. m Health interventions may result in desirable health outcomes, but more studies need to be conducted [17,18].

Effect of Mobile Phone Text Message Reminders on Routine Immunization Uptake in Pakistan: Randomized Controlled Trial

Effect of Mobile Phone Text Message Reminders on Routine Immunization Uptake in Pakistan: Randomized Controlled Trial

In this study, we evaluated the role of automated one-way SMS text reminders for improvement in uptake of childhood vaccines included in the RI at 6, 10, and 14 weeks of EPI schedule in Pakistan. A randomized control trial was conducted to determine the efficacy of automated SMS reminders to parents in improving the on-time vaccination rates in children.
