Recently, research was conducted in several countries to evaluate the effectiveness of acupressure therapy for the pain of patients with osteoarthritis. The study by Alinaghizadeh et al [8] involved 40 patients with osteoarthritis who were divided into 2 groups (intervention and control). In the intervention group, 30 minutes of acupressure therapy was given for 5 days.

The combination of MM and acupressure may enable the respective strengths of each to be used to enhance their effectiveness, shorten the onset of the intervention, and reduce the adverse effects of the prolonged practice of a single intervention.

International ResearchKit App for Women with Menstrual Pain: Development, Access, and Engagement
Although the intervention group had access to acupressure-based features, including visual and written instructions on how to apply self-acupressure before and during menstruation, the control group did not. In addition, the app could send regular reminders to start the acupressure or to fill in questions. For both groups, the app was used to collect the study-related data and support the management of the menstrual period with a simplistic period calendar.

Integrative therapies such as acupressure and mindfulness meditation are used by individuals undergoing cancer treatments to alleviate symptoms such as pain, nausea, and anxiety. Acupressure is a therapy achieved by pressing along acupoints, which are histologically distinct cutaneous areas with high electrical conductivity, throughout the body [3].

Auriculotherapy or auricular treatment involves stimulating points on the ear with sterile acupuncture needles or acupressure with magnetized pellets or seeds [12]. Auriculotherapy offers a more effective and economical option to treat obesity than conventional approaches [13]. Auricular acupuncture has been frequently used to treat obesity in many countries [14-17].
